Born to Run

Uptowncharlybrown

Thank you for your interest in Fantasy Lane Stable. Here's a little bit of information about FLS. We've been in business for 16 years {since 1999}. We've continuously soldout every racing offering, mostly thru word of mouth.

We started out with just a dozen partners back in 1999 and just one horse. Today we proudly boast over 500 partners, more than 20 active partnerships, 40 horses, which include, racehorses, stallions, broodmares, and foals.

We have great interest in breeding season. You can find information about Uptowncharlybrown our former Triple Crown Contender after our three racing partnership opportunities.

So now that you know who we are...

FLS is proud to announce our latest offerings. We have limited opportunities in three different partnerships starting as low as $500. As you will quickly learn they call this the Sport of Kings for a reason. It is very expensive to own a racehorse.

At Fantasy Lane Stable we make your experience affordable for all as we only collect training expenses semiannually. An average racehorse at a major racetrack is expected to incur training expenses, including veterinary and transportation bills of over $50,000 annually.

By sharing the training expenses with your fellow limited partners it makes owning a racehorse at Fantasy Lane Stable totally affordable; not to mention, fun and excitement beyond your wildest dreams.

Opportunity #1:

We're Back from the OBS auction in Ocala, Florida. We're pleased to introduce our latest addition... R SHADE OF GRAY, a 2YO KY Bred filly sired by Macho Uno out of the mare Up To Date Event. We had the gray/roan 2 YO filly rated as one of the very best at the recently concluded sale.

Pictured above, R Shade of Gray is stabled at Parx. She's training lights out while turning heads as other trainers have noticed her on the racetrack. We anticipate a great summer of racing with her debut to come either at Parx or Saratoga. If at Parx we anticipate possibly racing in a stake race at Saratoga sometime in August. That's the current game plan.

There were 1,203 two-year olds being offered in the April OBS auction. This is unlike any other sale! Each year, strictly because of the sheer volume of so many juveniles catalogued for sale, many a "diamond in the rough" falls thru the cracks.

We think this R Shade Of Gray, the gorgeous daughter of Macho Uno, is one of those rare found diamonds. Unless you really work the sales, as we do, it's very hard to uncover a jewel such as her.

At Fantasy Lane Stable we look for the athlete first and foremost before any other consideration. We always look for a precocious 2 YO that works fast, but more importantly gallops out strong and does not use any wasted motion.

By "wasted motion" we're speaking about a horse that brings its front legs way too high up under the belly. When this happens, precious split seconds are lost when the horse re-extending its legs while reaching out for its next stride. R Shade Of Gray keeps her legs "low to the ground" which is exactly what one is looking for in a thoroughbred. Watch her impressive video again in slow motion.

We leave nothing to chance as at Fantasy Lane Stable, we have our clockers watch every move these juveniles take. Then our team of professional trainers and veterinarians help us cull the 1,203 prospects down to just a precious few.

By diligently performing our homework our success rate in finding potential stake horses is comparable to anyone in the industry. We buy the fewest horses, at modest prices; but somehow continuously hold our own with the very best. It's not by accident that we achieve success as we work hard to succeed. We do hope you decide to join us. R Shade Of Gray is currently insured for $65,000 against mortality.

Opportunity #2:

At the March OBS {Ocala Breeders Sale} Twirling Candy became the hottest sire on the planet. Five {5} of his progeny sold for an astounding average of $435,000. At the Barretts Sale in California the "sales topper" was a Twirling Candy selling for $400,000.

The market place dictates the Fair Market Value {FMV} for all horses. Roosevelt Lane our PA 2YO Homebred colt out of the dam Ambling Rose, a quarter of a million dollar earner herself, has a very bright future.

Roosevelt Lane is well bred. He's currently insured for $200,000 mortality insurance. You can't purchase this amount of insurance unless the actuaries & underwriters at the insurance company approves it. The cost to procure this insurance is $8,500 annually; just another reason, why they call thoroughbred racing, the Sport of Kings. Insurance is included in his purchase price should you decide to enroll.

Breeding, Northeast Region

The first reported foal for stakes winner Uptowncharlybrown was a colt born the evening of Feb. 16 at Michael Jester's Penn Ridge Farm near Harrisburg, Pa.

Bred by Fantasy Lane Stables, the colt is the first foal out of the Dixie Union mare Glorious Union.

Foal of Uptowntowncharlybrown and Glorious Union

Fantasy Lane also campaigned Uptowncharlybrown who started off his 3-year-old season with a six-length triumph in Tampa Bay Downs' Pasco Stakes, followed by third-place finishes in the Sam F. Davis Stakes (gr. III) and the Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II).

Bred in Kentucky by Juan Bruno and Rose Hill Farm, Uptowncharlybrown is out of the Langfuhr mare La Iluminada.

Last below we have a picture of Alan's Legacy. Glorious Union is scheduled to be bred back to Uptowncharlybrown, who stands for $1,500 at Diamond B Farm. Click here: Diamond B Farm | Mohrsville, PA

The little guy peeking out from behind the tree is Uptowncharlybrown as a weanling. Long before the world discovered his greatness we purchased him as an unraced 2 YO colt for $57,000.

With careful handling he soon grew into a Triple Crown contender but suffered an eventful trip in the Grade I $1,000,000 Belmont Stakes in which he finished 5th beaten the grand total of only 3 lengths...

Do you think any of our partners will ever forget the magical carpet ride he took us on? We'll never forget the week leading up to the Test of Champions which culminated the evening before when we attended the black tie by special invitation Belmont Ball. Today "Charly" is retired enjoying the good life as he is now a stallion standing at stud.

We've been blessed to have received a ton of press thanks to our wonderful partners who remain so loyal.

You should know before considering buying any animal {livestock} that there's always an inherent risk in owning a racehorse in that it's not suitable for everyone.

Thoroughbred racing involves a high degree of risk as there's never a guaranteed return on your money. This is not a stock, nor a security; but instead, a living breathing creature entrusted into our care. We go slow with our horses giving them every opportunity to be all that they can be.

Having issued this disclaimer, please know at FLS we're very proud of our racehorse's and for good reason! Where else can you spend as little as $500 and develop 5 stake horses in the past 9 years?

Uptowncharlybrown in the Grade II Coolmore Lexington Stakes

FLS thoroughbred, Uptowncharlybrown

Yes, we've participated the Triple Crown {2010} and ran in the Breeders Cup {2007} at Monmouth Park. Fantasy Lane Stable is very, very proud of what we've accomplished. And we do this by spending modest sums on the few horses that we buy.

Uptowncharlybrown racing in the Grade I $1,000,000 Belmont Stakes

FLS thoroughbred, Uptowncharlybrown

Most of our over 400 partners joined us simply by word of mouth. Uptowncharlybrown was recently retired to stand at stud in 2013 at Penn Ridge Farms. He took us on the thrill ride of a lifetime. Now it's time to move on to develop new champions, that hopefully, will carry us into the future.

We don't want anyone to think our only success was limited to Uptowncharlybrown. Before Charly, there was R Betty Graybull our $60,000 purchase as an unraced 2 YO.

FLS thoroughbred, R Betty Graybull

She went onto to enjoy a very distinguished career and won nearly a half million dollars winning multiple stake races. She finished as the 2nd all time earnings filly & mare Holy Bull progeny of all time. She's currently in foal to Awesome Again {$75,000 stud fee} at Adena Springs in Paris, Kentucky.

We LOVE FREE advertisements by our competitors.

At FLS we're not a claiming stable! Not that there's anything wrong with claiming horses, but for us, claiming is our exit strategy. If our horses doesn't live up to expectations then we race in claiming races where they can compete and win.

At FLS we're constantly searching for horses capable of competing on the major circuit. In 2011 we raced at Gulfstream Park, Fairgrounds, Keeneland, Belmont Park, Saratoga, Churchill Downs, Monmouth Park, and Parx.

We winter in Ocala, Florida
Image of Gulfstream Park

In the spring and summer we switch to Belmont Park and Saratoga. We always keep a string of horses at PARX year round.

Saratoga training track on a July morning
Image of Saratoga training track

Unlike other racing stables that double the purchase price of their 2 YO's, we at FLS earn a modest ten percent. Always check out what the horse was purchased for at the website of the auction house.

At FLS we simply prefer to swing away for the fences in buying unraced two-year-old thoroughbred prospects with the hope that they have huge upsides.

This is where Fantasy Lane Stable shines. We have uncanny knack for finding tomorrow's champion racehorses. If you think it's easy - think again? Many wealthy investors spend countless millions of dollars trying to find that elusive Graded Stake horse.

Not to many of our competitors can boast of {having purchased at auction} 5 stakes horses the past 7 years; and certainly, not one of Uptowncharlybrown's stature having been purchased for only $57,000. Today he is worth millions.

And before Charly just a few short years ago we purchased a steel gray {almost black} Holy Bull filly by the name of R Betty Graybull for $60,000. The lucky owner's of Fantasy Lane Stable were so blessed. Her glorious career lasted 23 races. She won 4 stake races and earned just a shade under $500,000.

In 2011 we sold half of Betty to Adena Springs as she's now officially retired to begin her new career as a broodmare in 2012. Adena Springs has 6 times been honored with the Eclipse Award as Breeder of The Year. We're so honored that Betty will live out the rest of her life as royalty at Adena Springs.

Fantasy Lane Stable watched in awe as our "MINI-ME" version of the great Zenyatta enjoyed the same patented last to first trademark move which resulted in her 8 wins during her illustrious career. We can't wait until we see her little Betty's racing in a few years.
